Over a twenty-five plus year career in health care, I was the author of several clinical papers published in peer-reviewed and internationally recognised medical journals. For even longer, I have had a passion for music. Two completely different worlds perhaps, but research-based writing would to prove an invaluable transferable skill when applied to my interest in recording artist biographies and soul music history. Since 2013 I have fully immersed myself in freelance writing and am the owner of A Nickel And A Nail, the UK’s first independent bookstore specialising in soul music and related genre literature. I also pursue biographical writing activities in a wider societal and cultural context, and continue to provide commentaries and articles on nutrition and health for journal and magazine publications.
